here you will find some of the useful, necessary, or simply cool things that dave has found and/or created --
some of which are referred to as figurative rabbits. items may or may not be available for purchase immediately.
repair services
This appears to be somewhat O.K., but it's abnormal. Looking closer, you can see the formation of Lichtenberg phenomena (the way lightning is shaped) as a result of the solder "whiskering" -- growing tiny hairs under the solder mask. and eventually forming a short that causes symptoms most would find mysterious but rarely catastrophic. it must be scraped away then coated with fresh solder mask. Many electronics, including the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, were affected when lead-based solder was banned by the EPA in the early to mid 2000's and a new alloy had to be created.
offering various forms of repair, within the capabilities of current equipment. options will expand as more equipment is acquired and becomes comfortable to utilize. please inquire with item in question to be certain of ability, which you may be directed to custom services for a mail-in repair.
consulting service

in addition to electronic repairs, dave offers consultation services for various systems, issues, and potential ventures.
these categories can range from assembly of car audio system, along with actual installation, custom PC builds or upgrades of current hardware, home office or small business information technology connectivity solutions, to custom designed items or infrastructure. lets not forget power savings with automation, upgrading existing infrastructure and/or equipment for various purposes such as non intrusive power outage creature comforts and security.
dave also enjoys being a grease monkey, and is well versed in small engine items. vehicles, however, are something new, relatively speaking. though I bet it wouldn't take him much to figure out the cause(s) for your concern(s)
custom services
The idea is to shape the "prima materia" [first material] into the most appealing imagery that emerges from the "infinitum nihil" [infinite nothing] within.
simply, to turn this -- into that.
tinkering things
client's PS5 controller developed stick drift, along with the USB charge port being ripped out. replaced both sticks with hall effect sticks, since a cleaning rejuvenation is only temporary. hall effect uses magnets and a sensor -- virtually nothing to wear out.

client's FPV video transmitter USB connector wore out, to which they commissioned Dave for a quick repair. damaged port was removed, and pigtail soldered in it's place at client's request.
note: this photo was confirming functionality -- forgot photo before return shipment
connector broke off GPS module after quadcopter crash. luckily, MATEK puts 2 connectors on this particular model. Had a small amount of troulbe getting it to work again because it would not detect either GPS or compass. a quick look over, and it was soon realized 5v had a trace peeled up that was going into a via and then to the diode. a small piece of wire and dab of solder later, we were up and running again.

rationalizing madness
Dave began messing around with electronic devices at the wee age of 5, with a computer being introduced at approximately 8. Ultimately, he was deeply inspired with a life-long passion for objects that make use of electric current. Over time, taming electrons and observing photons in awe grew into a skill that is extremely useful and holds strong in today's world.
After a hiatus, the sense of wonder and aptness to chase rabbits down their holes was reignited with the idea to unlock features that were available to higher trims of vehicles, which was often only a lack of specific part(s)/module(s). given the knowledge all trims utilized nearly exact controllers, most options are only software switches requiring a combination of both hardware installation and software configuration.
At the moment, Dave has a fine collection of rabbits of various breeds from many countries -- that which is beginning to become expensive in food and maintenance. Fret not, for they do not starve or are kept within untidy conditions -- they often simply aCcompany Dave on quests and forage naturally. Figuratively, of course.
This page is a place to allow others to view some of the things that have consumed Dave's mind and acquire parts or services they may need for their own interests.

To ultimately provide others with the opportunity and means to enhance their devices by way of repair, customization, or creation of electronic items with figurative addition (customization), subtraction (regulation), multiplication (transform[er]ation/amplification), and division (distribution).
Abstraction (creation/assimilation) of imaginative ideas into spatial material reality is the most beautiful force (induction) within all things, and is the direct result of the eternal expansion and contraction (modification) cycles existing simultaneously in and of the cosmic and quantum planes.
The ether(eal), if you will.

zk-as21 modifications
after browsing aliexpress searching for a decent 2.1 channel amplifier board, I finally settled on the ZK-AS21. this board is built around 2 (two) TPA3255 chip-amps, each capable of 300w x 2 stereo, or 600 x 1 mono, at approximately 50 volts DC.
the board is configured so 1 chip is for stereo L and R, and the other for the subwoofer.
the casing for the board/unit itself displays a power input value of up to 36 volts, and after some probing and reading datasheets, it became clear that the limiting factor was not only the heat it produced, but the 12v regulator having a maximum input of 38 volts.
that small IC on the left, mid center, near the capacitor is the 12v regulator in question, while the 5v regulator can be seen opposite, and is supplied by the 12v regulator, primarily because of limits secondary to excess power being dissipated as heat.
be aware, many of these cheap boards use inferior components. those two large green caps are/were fake nichicon, the potentiometers are scratchy, and we'd imagine the op amps behind each pot are cheaper clones.
If dave could have his way, he'd surely use wima capacitors for both input and output, bourne's audio potentiometers, and texas instruments op-amps -- though of course, you get what you pay for.
regardless, a quick order for a meanWell NSD05-48S12 DC-DC converter capable of 72v input/12v output and a bit of reverse engineering later, it is now being powered with 48v.
if you're wanting to use the bluetooth feature, it is important to keep the 5v section, which is simply further regulated 12v. the op amps responsible for tone/volume control are powered with 12 volt, and the bluetooth IC (integrated circuit) that also controls switching between analog 3.5mm, bluetooth itself, and USB input -- is 5 volt.
for it to function correctly, we removed the 12v regulator and it's supporting components, which was the small 8-pin IC, two capacitors, and two inductors.
four wires were then soldered -- two to the GND pad, one to the V in, and then another to the V out of the old 12v regulator's pads. then these were soldered directly to the MeanWell module.
