recently, power monitoring outlets became of interest, and it was discovered christmas lights of the C9 variety used with a dimmer for ambient lighting consumed approximately 250 watts -- quite excessive, especially for 1/4 brightness. $25 on Amazon for some LED bulbs and 25 minutes later, power consumption dropped to a whopping 50 watts at full brightness. Utilizing the dimmer -- it can be lowered to an amazing 7 watts while outputting a satisfying amount of photons.
